EUPHORSIA: THE GREATEST RODEO parodies the romanticised Wild West and its glamorisation of the bounty hunter archetype. Classic Westerns portray bounty hunters as rugged anti-heroes caught between justice and lawlessness. My trio—— Akari, Malakai and Jeremiah—— flip that myth. They don’t hunt out of duty—they’re just working-class folks chasing “the bag”, passing time, and fighting to stay alive. Look at this myth we’ve built around bounty hunters being these stoic icons of justice… when really it’s just a hustle. No glory, no moral compass—just survival. In their world, justice is a job, not a value. Morality is gamified: “Is this guy worth the bounty?” becomes a real question. I’m pointing to how capitalist systems outsource violence to individuals and dress it up as opportunity. The state doesn’t get its hands dirty—the people do, for a fee.
The entire project unfolds within The Sims 4, a simulation game that simulates real life, which I layered with custom animations, genre tropes, and film logic. I call it Simception: a simulation—inside a genre—inside a story—inside a game. My OCs—Akari, Malakai, and Jeremiah—aren’t just Sims. They act out a spaghetti Western-cyberpunk hybrid in a world I built. Behind the scenes, I control everything: lighting, costumes, choices—but narratively, they move with power. They’re morally grey, strategic, and in control. So even if it’s fake, it’s still real: the tensions and dynamics are grounded in truth.
This ain’t just about some damned bounty hunters on a dusty, vague-looking planet—alright, partner?
